My name’s Vanessa and I’m the face behind La Bruja Blanca Apothecary. My journey in allopathic medicine began in the operating room of the Alberta Children’s Hospital here in Calgary AB, which eventually led to my graduation from nursing. One of my favourite units to work on was Burns & Plastics. I loved anything surgical and seemed to thrive in high stress areas.

After multiple traumatic birthing experiences, my entire life slow downed upon the arrival of my rainbow baby, my son Renzo. I decided to leave the system to pursue doula, herbalism and traditional Chinese medicine studies. Next my business was manifested. My goal is to help empower new and existing mothers with clean nutritive products and birth rights consulting - two major things I wished I had more knowledge on when starting a family.

La Bruja Blanca ‘the white witch’ is a nickname given to me by my Peruvian mother in law. In latin culture, the white witches were the curenderas [ the healers ], one’s who utilized herbalism, were one with nature, shamans etc. From making garden potions as a little girl, to now owning my own herbal apothecary that supports women’s health, is a dream come true.
